More than 290 Yoga enthusiasts from all walks of life performed ‘Surya Namaskar’ in a glittering function ‘Yogathon 2015′ at Indian Embassy in connection with the International Yoga Day. ‘Yogathon 2015′ was organized by Seva Darshan Kuwait in association with Amma Kuwait, Harmony House, Art of Living, Yogi, Sky Yoga, Artistic Yoga and Pilates. The function was attended by large number of people from all walks of life. The Yogathon 2015 was supported by Jet Airways, Kottakkal Massage Center, UAE Exchange and Al Jameh group. More than 290 volunteers in three batches performed ‘Surya Namaskar’ at different locations inside the Embassy. The Yoga session by Bala Darshan Kids and yoga performance by women’s group were mesmerizing. This was followed by presentation of various Yoga postures by other organizations including Kuwaiti nationals. Mrs Latha Kannan Iyer and her students performed Yoga Dance Fusion. Later the event was officially inaugurated by Indian Ambassador to Kuwait H.E Sunil Jain. Seva Darshan Kuwait Secretary Sri, Vibheesh Tikkodi welcomed the public. Krishnakumar Paliath in his presidential address proposed a common platform to offer free yoga training to the people of lower income. The organizers appreciated the participating Kuwaiti Nationals their contributions towards Yoga in Kuwait. India decided to celebrate International Yoga Day on a grand scale after 177 nations, including the State of Kuwait and 47 Organization of Islamic Countries, co-sponsored Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s proposal to observe June 21st as the International Yoga Day at the UN General Assembly in September last year. On Sunday, 21st, Indian Embassy hosted the International Yoga Day at Embassy premise.
